ABOUT
I am a UK Full licence holder based in the North East of Scotland. By trade I’m a marine electronics engineer, mostly working on fishery acoustics and sonar systems, along with a fair few marine VHF and HF radio installations over the years. I also hold a UK Marine Radio Short Range Certificate.
In my spare time I enjoy designing and building my own electronics projects — something that naturally led me into amateur radio.
My interest in radio goes back a long way — I spent many hours in my youth listening to an Icom R-71E, which I still own today. It seemed a natural step to get into amateur radio in the end.
I’m often on digital modes and enjoy swapping reports with other low-power and experiment-minded operators.

I take part in digital contesting, mainly RTTY and PSK. I run low power, so the emphasis is on clean signals and careful tuning rather than high output. I also enjoy longer QSOs on RTTY, PSK63 and other digital modes such as Hellschreiber and Olivia.
